Dermatology is the medical specialty concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of all conditions associated with the skin – the body’s largest organ. Kelsey-Seybold’s Dermatologists have expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric and adult patients with benign and some malignant conditions, ranging from acne and psoriasis, to malignant melanomas. During three years of additional medical training, Dermatologists learn how the immune system influences the cause of skin disorders and gain expertise in the use of ultraviolet light in the treatment of skin diseases. Dermatologists also have extensive training and experience in the diagnosis and treatment of:

• Skin cancers, melanomas, moles and other tumors of the skin

• Contact dermatitis and other allergic and non-allergic conditions

• Disorders of the skin, mouth, hair and nails.

In many instances, a Kelsey-Seybold dermatologist will provide consultation to the primary care physician regarding a particular skin problem. The dermatologist will provide ongoing treatment and may perform procedures to correct the problem. The patient may be referred back to the primary care physician for follow-up treatment.
